I'm sort of my 80-year-old self, in training.
It's kind of all about affirmation. I CAN. There's nothing intimidating about the stove, the knitting needles, or the sewing machine. And there's nothing wrong or bad about me or my body.

We accept all girls in kindergarten through 12th grade as members. If a child identifies as a girl and the child’s family presents her as a girl, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her as a Girl Scout. If a child is living as a girl, that’s good enough for us. We don’t require any proof of gender.

I kind of think the Girl Scouts are a cult, or at least terrifying. This might have something to do with the way all the girls in my class wore their uniforms to school on specific days, or maybe the Brownies meetings at my elementary school which I was not allowed to attend.
But now… I’ll at least consider that the Colorado branch are doing something right.
