Can/Make/Do/Think

I'm sort of my 80-year-old self, in training.
It's kind of all about affirmation. I CAN. There's nothing intimidating about the stove, the knitting needles, or the sewing machine. And there's nothing wrong or bad about me or my body.
I CAN.
Here, you'll read about:
Things I MAKE
What I DO
How I THINK
If this doesn't sound like fun to you, I guess I'll just give these handmade mittens and the jar of preserves to somebody else.

So.
I have recently become the owner of a Nook Simple Touch. I was all excited to fill that shit up, until I realized that I don’t have a to-read list.

Truth time: generally, I DO judge books by their covers. I wander around a bookstore, touching spines (of books, not employees/other shoppers) and holding books in my hand and deciding what to buy and read because of the outside.

I don’t know what to read.
I need suggestions.

The last few books I’ve read are:
The Island at the Center of the World — Russell Shorto
New York the Novel — Edward Rutherford
The Mysterious Benedict Society — Trenton Lee Stewart
Neverwhere — Neil Gaiman
The 39 Clues 1: Maze of Bones (I’m reading this one aloud to the 7-year old I babysit for)

I need books. I like fiction, I like New York City history, I like books about food, I do NOT like suspense or things that might freak me out and/or keep me awake at night.

Halp me Tumblr-wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope!
